Technology, business, culture, people, society – change for the better.
Joshua Greenbaum is an industry analyst and consultant following the enterprise software market for 30 years. His role at Enterprise Applications Consulting is that of a translator between technology and people. Technology can solve many business and social problems, but only if people use it correctly. This means that enterprise software and its supporting technology and services have to be selected, implemented, managed and supported in ways that make sense for the users, not for the vendor or its service provider partners.
Technology users are often reluctant to implement technology for technologies’ sake, and are resistant to technological and process change that is imposed from above. Ensuring their voices are heard, and responded to by their software and services providers, is a key part of what I do. As such I work with end users and user groups to ensure that they make technology choices that meet their needs, and not the needs of their vendors. That in turn means working with vendors and service providers to help them understand the complexities of working with customers and speaking to them in their language, not just the language of IT and engineering. Vendors need to develop and deliver products and services with users in mind, and support an ecosystem of partners that is united in the goal of customer success, and not just their own success.
